Softball Routes Dubuque to Extend Winning Streak to Six

Lincoln, Neb. (April 20th, 2024)- The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team extended its winning streak to six on Saturday with two wins over Dubuque. The Prairie Wolves won game one 13-4, and game two 10-2. During Nebraska Wesleyan's winning streak, the Prairie Wolves have outscored their opponents 55-13. 

GAME ONE 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan poured it on early, scoring eight runs in the first inning. Val Gerlach got the Prairie Wolves going with a bases loaded single that scored Hanna Roth. The Paige Davison drove in Amber Kosmicki to make the score 2-0. Jenna Kimberling widened the lead with a three run bases clearing RBI double. Kimberling would score on a sacrifice fly from Sami MacDonald. Hanna Roth put the finishing touches on the first inning with a two run home run. 
  • Dubuque cut Nebraska Wesleyan's lead in half by scoring four runs in the top of the third. The Prairie Wolves would immediately answer in the bottom half of the inning. Lyndsey Roth started the scoring by driving in Kenzie Heedum. Then, Val Gerlach singled, which scored Hanna Roth. To cap off the inning, Jenna Kimberling drove in Lyndsey Roth and made the score 11-4. 
  • Nebraska Wesleyan would score two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, the first came from a Hanna Roth RBI single, the second came from an Amber Kosmicki solo home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Dubuque came out swinging and scored two runs in the top of the first.
  • After being held scoreless for the first three innings, Nebraska Wesleyan took the lead with a four run fourth inning. Paige Davison scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. Then Jenna Kimberling scored on a Sami MacDonald sacrifice fly. Taylor Korecky gave Nebraska Wesleyan the lead on a two run home run. 
  • In the fifth, Amber Kosmicki extended Nebraska Wesleyan's lead to three on an RBI single. Then Paige Davison drove in two more runs to put Nebraska Wesleyan up 7-2. 
  • Lyndsey Roth double drove in two more Nebraska Wesleyan runs. Later in the inning, Jenna Kimberling drew a bases load walk, which made the score 10-2.

Nebraska Wesleyan hits the road on Tuesday, April 23rd, to take on Coe College. Game one is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Game two is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
