Hot Bats Power Softball to Sweep of Buena Vista

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 17, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball hosted Buena Vista, in a two-game series on Wednesday. The Prairie Wolves swept the Beavers, winning 5-2 in game one and 8-0 in game two.

GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan came out swinging in the first inning. A Val Gerlach RBI single scored Hanna Roth and made the score 1-0. Later in the inning, Sami MacDonald drove in Lyndsey Roth. Jenna Kimberling put the finishing touches on the inning with an RBI single that scored Paige Davison.
  • Buena Vista cut Nebraska Wesleyan's lead to one by scoring two runs in the fourth.
  • In the sixth inning, Jenna Kimberling launched a two run home run into the stands to give the Black and Gold a 5-2 lead.
  • NWU would hold Buena Vista scoreless in the top of the seventh to secure a game one victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lyndsey Roth gave Nebraska Wesleyan a 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI single.
  • The Prairie Wolves opened the game up in the fourth by scoring four runs, two of which came on an RBI double from Sami MacDonald. A sacrifice bunt from Addie Duranski made the game 4-0. To cap off the inning, Hanna Roth drove in Bre Schneidewind to make the score 5-0.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan's offense continued to roll in the fifth as the Black and Gold scored two more runs. Lyndsey Roth scored the first run after a throwing error from Buena Vista's catcher. Sami MacDonald made the score 7-0 with a sacrifice fly.
  • The Prairie Wolves would tack on one more run in the sixth courtesy of a Rylee Pangborn home run.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan held Buena Vista scoreless and secured the shut out and series sweep.

Nebraska Wesleyan will conclude its four game home stand by playing host to Dubuque on Saturday, April 20th. Game one is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. with game two following at 3:00 p.m.
