LINCOLN, Neb. (April 9, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team traveled to Decorah, Iowa, to play Luther College in a two-game series on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves swept the Norse, winning 8-2 in game one and 11-3 in game two.

GAME ONE 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Nebraska Wesleyan found themselves down 0-1 after a Luther RBI single in the bottom of the first inning.
• The Prairie Wolves bounced back with a single from Taylor Korecky in the second. The freshman outfielder found a gap in center field scoring Jenna Kimberling and Paige Davison, 2-1.
• Kimberling added to NWU's lead with a sacrifice fly in the third. Shelby Gunther crossed home plate making the score 3-1. 
• The Norse scored their final run of game one in the fourth inning. 
• In the final three innings, the Black and Gold tacked on five more insurance runs, 8-2.
• Three Prairie Wolves recorded multi-hit games, including a box score-best, three hits on four at-bats for Paige Davision. 
• Jenna Kimberling executed well in the batter's box with runner's on base for NWU, earning three RBI's on two hits.
• In a much needed win, Nebraska Wesleyan topped Luther College, 8-2, moving to 19-7 overall and 2-3 in the A-R-C.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Luther College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in game two of the Saturday series. The Norse held the Prairie Wolves scoreless in the first two innings.
• Addi Duranski ignited the offensive attack for NWU with a solo shot over the right field fence in the third. Val Gerlach followed with a sacrifice bunt, scoring Hanna Roth and Paige Davision gave Nebraska Wesleyan their first lead of the game with a single to center field, 3-2.
• Luther College tried to keep up with the Black and Gold's big bats by tying things at three a piece in the third inning. 
• NWU's eights hits and eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings completed the run-rule and regular season sweep over the Norse. Sami MacDonald picked up her 20th and 21st RBI of the season and Addi Duranski batted in two more runs to move her game total to three.
• Elise Warneke collected two wins in the pitching circle for NWU. Entering in relief in the final of the series, Warneke struck out three batters and allowed just three hits.
• After two wins on Saturday, Nebraska Wesleyan sits sixth in the conference.
