Softball Defeats Concordia, Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lincoln, Neb.- Nebraska Wesleyan swept Concordia on Wednesday to improve to 13-4. The Prairie Wolves won game one 3-2, and game two 7-0. The pair of wins extends Nebraska Wesleyan's win streak to six. Additionally, the Prairie Wolves have won five straight against the Bulldogs. 

GAME ONE 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Taylor Korecky and Jenna Kimberling scored on error to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
  • Both pitchers settled in after the second as no runs were scored in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
  • Concordia tied the game with two runs in the sixth.
  • Val Gerlach hit a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh to give Nebraska Wesleyan a 3-2 victory.
  • Elise Warneke pitched a complete game and earned her seventh win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Val Gerlach opened the scoring with an RBI single to make the game 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. A Paige Davison RBI single made the game 2-0 later in the inning.
  • Amber Kosmicki made the game 3-0 with an RBI single in the bottom of the second. Sami MacDonald extended Nebraska Wesleyan's lead with a sacrifice fly that scored Hanna Roth. Val Gerlach picked up her second RBI of the game and made the score 5-0 on a single later in the inning. Kamdyn Sprunk put the finishing touches on the bottom of the second with a sacrifice ground out that scored Lyndsey Roth.
  • Lyndey Roth scored on a Kamdyn Sprunk ground out to make the game 7-0.
  • Eva Fahrnbruch tossed a five hit complete game.
