LINCOLN, Neb. (March 1, 2024) - Following a 58-41 victory over Centenary College in the first round of the NCAA tournament, Nebraska Wesleyan is set to face the University of Texas Dallas in the round of 32 on Saturday, March 2nd.

SERIES RESULTS
Saturday will mark the eighth match up in a series that dates back to 2001. Nebraska Wesleyan holds a 7-0 series lead.

ROAD TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

• Nebraska Wesleyan was selected as an at-large bid after falling to Loras in the American Rivers Conference tournament championship game. Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a 24-4 overall record and earned a share of the American Rivers Conference regular season title. In the first round of the NCAA tournament, the Prairie Wolves defeated Centenary College 58-41. 
• UT-Dallas defeated Mary Hardin-Baylor 78-77 in the ASC tournament championship to clinch an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. The Comets dispatched Trinity University, 67-63 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday with a 24-4 record. Peter Lash has scored a team-high 486 points and is averaging 17.4 points per game. Lash has also recorded a team-high 229 rebounds and is averaging 8.2 rebounds per game. Carter Glenn leads the Prairie Wolves in assists with 95 and steals with 73. Jack Groeteke has recorded a team-high 52 blocks. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan is averaging 76.4 points per game. The Prairie Wolves are shooting 45.8% from the floor with a 33.4% mark from three. Nebraska Wesleyan is shooting 78.1% from the free throw line. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves are allowing 66.6 points per game. 

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN'S PROFILE
2023-24 American Rivers Conference Coach of the Year Dale Wellman is in his 10th year as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. Wellman enters Saturday with a 192-67 record. In his tenure, Wellman has won two national coach of the year and eight conference coach of the year awards. In 2018, he coached Nebraska Wesleyan to a 30-3 overall record and its first national championship. Wellman has won five regular-season conference titles and three conference tournament titles.

Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 

EMBRACING THE TOURNAMENT SPOTLIGHT
Junior forward Jack Groeteke had a big performance against Centenary College in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Groeteke recorded 20 points on a near season best 72.7 shooting percentage while recording eight rebounds and blocking four shots. This was Groeteke's fifth 20 point game of the season and his first since scoring 21 in a 97-62 victory over Simpson College. This was Groeteke's fourth game with four or more blocked shots.

• The Comets leading scorer is Donovan Souter. He is averaging 19.3 points per game.
