LINCOLN, Neb. (February 25, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan baseball picked up a win to finish the series in Kansas City, Kan,, beating Grinnell 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Prairie Wolves found themselves down early in the first inning after Grinnell scored a run off a sacrifice fly, 0-1.
- A triple by Jake Gerardis evened the score in the third inning, 1-1.
- Both defenses held the score still for the next two inning.
- In the final four innings, Nebraska Wesleyan outscored the Pioneers, five to four.
- Jack Carver brought in a run after being hit by a pitch in the sixth inning, 2-1.
- Duncan Ortega added to the Black and Gold's score, shooting a single through the infield and bringing in Jake Geradis in the seventh inning, 3-1.
- Jason English called his shot and put one over the wall in the 8th inning, 4-4. Later in the same inning, Carter Betts tripled, scoring the Prairie Wolves' final two runs, 6-4.
- Nebraska Wesleyan's lead held, allowing them to avoid the weekend sweep and move to 3-3 overall on the year.
- Trevor Storer was credited with the win for the P-Wolves after pitching in relief for two innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out one.
