HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

• The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team was unable to pull through and win against Grinnell despite a late offensive effort.
• The Pioneers started out on top with a run to start off the first inning. The Black and Gold couldn't respond until the fourth inning. A double by Evan Kling secured the first run for NWU, 1-2. 
• Grinnell extended their lead in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring five runs to make the score 1-7.
• In the bottom of the seventh, Brady Bell drove in two Prairie Wolves with a single to make the score 3-7. Despite the late effort, NWU was not able to even up the score, losing the first game of the series.

GAME 2

• Defensive mishaps and struggles on the mound defined Game 2 for Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. Grinnell defeated NWU, 1-6. 
• Grinnell started off the game strong yet again, notching a run in the first inning. 
• The Pioneers tacked on another run with a solo shot in the fourth, 0-2.
• Offenses were put on a stand still until late in the game.
• In the seventh inning, the Pioneers resumed their offensive triumph, scoring three runs.
• The Black and Gold answered back with their sole run of the game off of a single by Owen Machal, 1-5.
• Grinnell added one last insurance run in the ninth and secured the victory, 1-6.
