Box Score LINCOLN, NEB. (February 14, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team suffered a 55-50 loss to Central on Wednesday evening. The loss drops Nebraska Wesleyan to 0-20 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nebraska Wesleyan started strong and jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter of play. Brianna Denton led the way for the Prairie Wolves, scoring six points in the quarter. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan shot 27.8 percent from the floor while holding Central to a 21.4 shooting percentage.
- Central went on a 10-3 run to begin the second quarter and tied the game at 17. An Avery Halliday layup gave Nebraska Wesleyan a 19-17 lead before Central tied the game back up. Nebraska Wesleyan would go on to lead the game 23-22 at halftime.
- Central came out determined in the third quarter, as the Dutch shot 50 percent from the floor and outscored Nebraska Wesleyan 18-10 to attain a 40-33 lead as the game entered the final period.
- Nebraska Wesleyan fought valiantly in the fourth, outscoring the Dutch 17-15 and forcing five turnovers. However the Prairie Wolves would come up just short as Central made key free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
- Avery Halliday led the Prairie Wolves with 15 points.
