LINCOLN, NEB. (February 10, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team suffered a 70-53 loss to Coe on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Nebraska Wesleyan to 0-19 on the season. Nebraska Wesleyan honored five seniors before the game, Brianna Denton, Grace Hogeland, Anna Vandenack, Ellie Bream, and Avery Halliday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coe raced out to an 11-2 lead in the first quarter, before Nebraska Wesleyan responded with a 6-1 run to cut the lead to four. Tessa Skelton, Joy Rippen, Anna Vandenack, and Miranda Oesterreich each scored two points in the quarter.
- The Kohawks extended their lead from four to 20 in the second quarter by outscoring Nebraska Wesleyan 26-10.
- Despite the 38-18 deficit, Nebraska Wesleyan continued to fight in the third quarter. Scoring 17 points to Coe's 18. Nebraska Wesleyan shot 46.2 percent from the field in the third.
- Nebraska Wesleyan cut into the deficit in the fourth, outscoring the Kohawks 18-14. The Prairie Wolves shot 53.8 percent from the floor and turned the Kohawks over five times.
- On Senior Day, Anna Vandenack led the Prairie Wolves with 11 points.
