HOW IT HAPPENED

On Saturday afternoon, the #23 Prairie Wolves took down the #19 Kohawks of Coe College inside Synder Arena, 70-60.
NWU got on the board early, as Peter Lash made two free throws less than a minute into the game. A three-pointer from Carter Glenn extended the Black and Gold's lead to 11-4 with 17:02 remaining in the first half.
Dale Wellman's squad limited the Kohawks to under ten points in the first ten minutes of the game, establishing their largest lead of the opening half with a layup from Seth Newton, extending their advantage to 21-9 with 9:08 remaining.
Despite Coe narrowing the gap in the final minutes of the first half, the Prairie Wolves maintained their dominance and entered the break with a 30-28 lead, never relinquishing their advantage throughout the opening half.
After the break, a back-and-forth scoring battle ensued, with neither team allowing the other to gain more than a four-point advantage.
With 5:25 left on the clock, back-to-back three-pointers from Seth Newton and Peter Lash propelled the Prairie Wolves to a 58-52 lead.
A dunk from Jack Groeteke electrified Snyder Arena, securing NWU a 66-57 lead.
In the final minutes of the game, Nebraska Wesleyan displayed exceptional accuracy from the free-throw line, shooting an impressive 90% as a team, 70-60.
With tonight's victory, the Prairie Wolves have completed the sweep over the Kohawks for the first time since the 2019–20 season.
Dale Wellman's squad advances to a 20-3 overall record in season and 11-3 in the American Rivers Conference. With a help from a pair of A-R-C schools, the Prairie Wolves now sit tied for first place in the conference standings.
