#23 Men's Basketball Takes Down A-R-C's Top-Ranked Coe College

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • On Saturday afternoon, the #23 Prairie Wolves took down the #19 Kohawks of Coe College inside Synder Arena, 70-60. 
  •  NWU got on the board early, as Peter Lash made two free throws less than a minute into the game. A three-pointer from Carter Glenn extended the Black and Gold's lead to 11-4 with 17:02 remaining in the first half.
  • Dale Wellman's squad limited the Kohawks to under ten points in the first ten minutes of the game, establishing their largest lead of the opening half with a layup from Seth Newton, extending their advantage to 21-9 with 9:08 remaining. 
  • Despite Coe narrowing the gap in the final minutes of the first half, the Prairie Wolves maintained their dominance and entered the break with a 30-28 lead, never relinquishing their advantage throughout the opening half. 
  • After the break, a back-and-forth scoring battle ensued, with neither team allowing the other to gain more than a four-point advantage. 
  • With 5:25 left on the clock, back-to-back three-pointers from Seth Newton and Peter Lash propelled the Prairie Wolves to a 58-52 lead. 
  • A dunk from Jack Groeteke electrified Snyder Arena, securing NWU a 66-57 lead. 
  • In the final minutes of the game, Nebraska Wesleyan displayed exceptional accuracy from the free-throw line, shooting an impressive 90% as a team, 70-60.
  • With tonight's victory, the Prairie Wolves have completed the sweep over the Kohawks for the first time since the 2019–20 season.
  • Dale Wellman's squad advances to a 20-3 overall record in season and 11-3 in the American Rivers Conference. With a help from a pair of A-R-C schools, the Prairie Wolves now sit tied for first place in the conference standings.
