#18 Men’s Basketball Completes Sweep Over the Dutch of Central College in Final Home Regular Season Contest

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Wednesday night saw the #18 Prairie Wolves triumph over the Central College Dutch in Synder Arena, 84-69. 
  • Both teams scored early on until consecutive three-pointers from Conner Brown and Brayton Christensen propelled the Black and Gold to a 10-4 lead with 17:21 remaining. 
  • During the opening half, NWU continued to assert offensive dominance, gaining significant momentum when Seth Newton hit three back-to-back three-pointers, extending the Prairie Wolves' lead to 27-15. 
  • The Black and Gold maintained their lead throughout the first half, with Jack Groeteke hitting back-to-back three-pointers to keep the Prairie Wolves hot from beyond the arc. This effort allowed them to enter the break with a 42-32 advantage over the Dutch. 
  • In the second half, Conner Brown once again initiated the scoring for NWU, sinking a three-pointer and adding a layup to bring the score to 47-34. 
  • The Black and Gold maintained their aggressive offensive stance, with Peter Lash frequently drawing fouls and showcasing his accuracy from the free-throw line, finishing an impressive 14-16. Overall, the Prairie Wolves shot an outstanding 85.7% from the line.  
  • Carter Glenn's free throw with forty-four seconds remaining gave NWU an 84-69 victory over the Dutch.
  • Dale Wellman's team dominated the Dutch, outscoring them 49-8 in bench points. 
  • NWU now moves to 21-3 overall and 12-3 in conference play. The Black and Gold finished the regular season with an 11-1 home record. 
  • Nebraska Wesleyan looks to continue to control their own destiny. With a win at Buena Vista on Saturday, the Prairie Wolves will secure at least a share of the A-R-C regular season conference title. The last time Dale Wellman's squad finished at the top of the American Rivers Conference was during the 2019-20 season.
