LINCOLN, Neb. (December 2nd, 2024) - After going 2-0 in the 35th Annual Snyder Classic Tournament, Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball is set for their conference opening match against Luther College this Saturday.

Tip-off between the Prairie Wolves and Norse is set for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday December 7th. The game will be played at Snyder Arena, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday's contest sporting a 5-2 record. The Prairie Wolves are coming off a thrilling double-overtime victory over Concordia-Moorhead last Saturday night to close out the Synder Classic. Through seven games, Nebraska Wesleyan has scored an average of 72 points per game, and allowed an average of 66.3 points per game. The Prairie Wolves carry a shooting percentage of 41.3%, with a 34.9% clip from beyond the arc. NWU has also been efficient at drawing fouls, and shoots 74% from the charity stripe. The Prairie Wolves play an unselfish brand of basketball with 82 assists on the season.The Black and Gold have found success in bringing the ball off the glass, recording 41 rebounds per game. Defensively the P-Wolves average 7.3 steals and 4.9 blocks per game.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is in his 11th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 199-70. 

HOME SWEET HOME
Snyder Arena has been a death star for opposing teams in recent years. Since joining the American Rivers Conference in 2016, Nebraska Wesleyan holds an 84-15 record at home, with five seasons consisting of double digit home wins, including back to back 15-1 home campaigns in 2018-19 and 2019-20. 

RAINING THREES
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday afternoon shooting 34.9% from three point land. The Prairie Wolves have six players with seven or more made three pointers. Nick Howard leads the team with thirteen made threes.

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 

SCOUTING THE NORSE
Luther College enters Saturday afternoon with a 1-5 overall record. The Norse are set to play the University of Dubuque on Wednesday December 2nd. Through six games, the Norse have scored an average of 62.8 points per game, while allowing 72.8 points per game. Luther College carries a 38% shooting percentage, with a 28.1% mark from deep. The Norse shoot 74.3% from the free throw line. Luther College is led by Mark Franzen who is entering his 18th year as head coach. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST LUTHER COLLEGE
Saturday will mark the 26th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Luther College. The Prairie Wolves hold a 23-2 all-time series lead. In the 2023-2024 season the Prairie Wolves went 2-0 against the Norse.
