Men's Basketball to Close Out Home Stand Against Dubuque, Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. (December 11th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball is set to host Dubuque on Saturday, in what will be the last of a five game home stand.

LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Tip-off between the Prairie Wolves and Spartans is set for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday December 14th. The game will be played at Snyder Arena, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats. 

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Fresh off a resounding 69-54 victory over Luther last Saturday, Nebraska Wesleyan (6-2, 1-0 A-R-C) enters Saturday afternoon riding a four game winning streak. Through eight games, Nebraska Wesleyan has scored an average of 71.6 points per game, and allowed an average of 64.8 points per game. The Prairie Wolves carry a shooting percentage of 41.0%, with a 34.5% clip from beyond the arc. NWU has also been efficient at drawing fouls, and shoots 74.5% from the charity stripe. The Prairie Wolves play an unselfish brand of basketball with 100 assists on the season.The Black and Gold have been efficient on the boards, recording 41.3 rebounds per game. Defensively the Prairie Wolves average 7.1 steals and 4.8 blocks per game.

HEAD COACH DALE WELLMAN
Dale Wellman is in his 11th season as the head coach of Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Basketball, having led the Prairie Wolves to numerous accomplishments, including a national championship in 2018. Under his guidance, the program has seen five A-R-C Regular Season titles and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Wellman boasts an all-time record of 200-70. 

200 WINS
Last Saturday's victory over Luther marked Dale Wellman's 200th win as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. Wellman currently sits in third behind Todd Raridon (269) and Irvin Peterson (420) for most wins in school history.

CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
Nebraska Wesleyan has won 14 of its last 17 regular season conference games, which includes an eight game home winning streak against conference opponents during the regular season.

CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE
Nebraska Wesleyan boasts a history of basketball excellence. Winning the national championship in 2018 and finishing runner-up in 1997, the Prairie Wolves have made five NCAA Division III Final Fours, appeared in 18 NCAA Division III tournaments, and won 16 conference championships. 

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Dubuque enters Saturday afternoon with a 7-2 overall record. The Spartans defeated Simpson College, 81-67, in their last game. Through nine games, the Spartans have scored an average of 75 points per game, and allowed 69.3 points per game. Dubuque carries a 44.7% shooting percentage, with a 31.7% mark from deep. The Spartans shoot 73.3% from the free throw line. Dubuque is led by Robbie Sieverding who is in his 18th year as head coach. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE
Saturday will mark the 22nd meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Dubuque. The Prairie Wolves hold a 14-7 all-time series lead.
