LINCOLN, Neb. – Basketball fans in the heartland are in for a treat as Nebraska Wesleyan University gears up to host the 35th Annual Snyder Classic, a staple of the Prairie Wolves' holiday season. Set to take place at Snyder Arena on Friday, Nov. 29, and Saturday, Nov. 30, this year's classic promises exciting matchups, and a showcase of collegiate basketball excellence.
The tournament tips off Friday evening with Central College taking on Concordia Moorhead at 5:00 p.m., followed by a showdown between Nebraska Wesleyan and University of Northwestern (MN) at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the action resumes with Central College facing University of Northwestern (MN) at 3:00 p.m. and Nebraska Wesleyan battling Concordia Moorhead at 5:00 p.m.
A Time-Honored Tradition
The Snyder Classic honors Larry Snyder ('61), a man whose legacy embodies the very best of NWU's ideals.This tournament has become a fun event in Division III basketball, bringing together top-tier programs for competitive action in a lively atmosphere.
What to Expect
The Prairie Wolves enter the tournament riding the momentum of a strong start to the season, led by senior guard Carter Glenn, who's averaging 16.5 points and 4 rebounds per game. Northwestern (MN) brings a high-octane offense averaging 79.6 points per game, while Concordia Moorhead boasts a tall roster with a defensive prowess that has stifled opponents all season. The cobbers give up just 54.4 points per game. Central rounds out the field with a well-balanced roster hungry to make a statement. The Dutch are led by reigning A-R-C Player of the Year and Preseason All-American Joshua Van Gorp. Van Gorp comes into the tournament averaging 25.0 points and 11.8 rebounds.
