Nebraska Wesleyan Tops Loras 3-1 on Senior Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (November 2, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan University women's volleyball celebrated Senior Night with a 3-1 victory over Loras College at Snyder Arena. Seniors Addie Thomas and Aliah Clarke were honored for their contributions to the program, helping the Prairie Wolves improve their record to 18-8 overall and 5-3 in American Rivers Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Prairie Wolves established their presence early, taking the first set 25-18 with an efficient offense led by setter Elecea Saathoff, who provided 15 assists to open up opportunities for outside hitter Kobie Patten and senior Addie Thomas. Nebraska Wesleyan's defense was also a standout, as libero Raegan Holle recorded critical digs that limited Loras's chances. With a strong all-around performance, NWU built a lead that Loras couldn't overcome in the opening set.

The second set was a battle, as Loras tightened their defense and managed to edge out NWU with a 25-21 win despite solid efforts from middle blocker Ella Foote, who added three kills in the set. NWU responded in the third, taking a hard-fought 26-24 victory with Patten and Molly Ramirez combining for seven kills. Saathoff continued to be an asset with timely assists, and Aliah Clarke added a huge solo block to shut down the Duhawks.

The fourth set saw Nebraska Wesleyan dominate from the start, hitting at an impressive .359 percentage to finish off the match. Foote led the charge with six kills in the final set, while Ramirez and Thomas added strong support at the net, combining for crucial blocks that disrupted Loras's attack. The Prairie Wolves' balanced offensive and defensive effort kept Loras at bay, securing a 25-20 victory to close out the match.
