Nebraska Wesleyan Volleyball Defeats Loras College 3-1 to Advance to A-R-C Semifinals

LINCOLN, Nebraska (November 12, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan Volleyball captured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Loras College in the A-R-C Quarterfinals at Snyder Arena on Tuesday night, propelling the Prairie Wolves into the A-R-C Semifinals. The win sets up a showdown against the University of Dubuque in Dubuque on Thursday at 7 PM.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Set 1: The Prairie Wolves came out strong, taking control from the start. Led by Addie Thomas's powerful attacks and a solid defense orchestrated by Raegan Holle, NWU took the first set 25-16. Thomas, who hit .286 in the set, put down a pair of kills, contributing to a fast-paced offense that kept Loras on their heels. Nebraska Wesleyan's team defense limited Loras to a .056 attack percentage in the opening set, with Holle adding five digs to frustrate the Duhawks' offense.

  • Set 2: Loras made adjustments and came out stronger in the second set, tightening their defense and limiting NWU's hitting efficiency to .152. The Duhawks edged out the Prairie Wolves 25-23 in a tightly contested set. Key contributions from Autumn Finch, who put down three kills in the set for Loras, helped them stay competitive and level the match at one set apiece.

  • Set 3: Nebraska Wesleyan responded in the third set, quickly regaining control. With key kills from Kobie Patten and Molly Ramirez, the Prairie Wolves powered through to a 25-12 victory. Ramirez, who hit a remarkable .409 on the night, was a key player in this set, adding three kills and two blocks to help seal the set for NWU. Setter Elecea Saathoff continued to distribute the ball effectively, tallying 49 assists for the match, 13 of which were in the third set.

  • Set 4: The Prairie Wolves finished strong, dominating the final set 25-16. A hitting percentage of .441 in the fourth set, led by Thomas and Patten, pushed NWU to the finish line. Thomas added another seven kills in the set, while Patten contributed three kills to the set. The team's offense was complemented by a solid defense, including key digs by Holle and a balanced blocking effort from Ella Foote and Aliah Clarke, ensuring Loras could not mount a comeback.
