Women's Basketball to Host Mount Marty in Season Opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (November 12th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball is set to open the 2024-25 season at home against Mount Marty, Wednesday night.

LOCATION, GAME TIME, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan and Mount Marty will tip off at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 13th. The game will be played at Snyder Arena, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan and new head coach Jim Wiedie are looking to turn the page on an 0-21 season in 2023-24. The Prairie Wolves return five players from last year's team, with Tessa Skelton being the lone returning starter. However, the Black and Gold brought in an impressive recruiting class that is excited to hit the ground running. 

HEAD COACH JIM WIEDIE
Jim Wiedie takes over as head coach in 2024, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success. Wiedie has amassed an overall coaching record of 309-226 across 19 years as a head coach at the NCAA Division I and II levels. Known for his strong player development, Wiedie will look to instill a winning culture at Nebraska Wesleyan.

Before joining the Prairie Wolves, Wiedie served as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha, focusing on recruiting and player development. He also holds the distinction of being the all-time winningest coach at both the University of Findlay during their Division II era and Indiana State University, leading those programs to new heights.

CELEBRATING 49 YEARS
Wednesday night will mark the beginning of the 49th season in program history. The Prairie Wolves hold a 387-772 all-time record, with numerous academic and athletic all-conference selections.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS
Mount Marty enters Wednesday with a 5-0 overall record. The Lancers score an average of 73.8 points per game, and allow an average of 41.8 points per game. The Lancers are led by third year coach Allan Bertram.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST MOUNT MARTY
Wednesday will mark the 32nd meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Mount Marty. The Lancers lead the all-time series 25-6.
