WAVERLY, Iowa (October 9, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer suffered its third straight defeat in a 3-0 loss to Wartburg. The Prairie Wolves are now 5-6 overall and 0-3 in American Rivers Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan started strong on offense and in net, taking four shots in the first 20 minutes, while Zachary Weis tallied four saves. However, Wartburg ramped up the pressure on Nebraska Wesleyan, outshooting the Prairie Wolves 6-2 over the next 17 minutes of play. The Knights broke through with a 36th-minute goal, putting Wartburg up 1-0. The remainder of the half saw both offenses go quiet, and Wartburg took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Wartburg continued to attack after halftime, taking five of the first six shots and extending their lead to 2-0 with a 64th-minute goal. Less than five minutes later, the Knights added a third goal in the 67th minute. Despite battling until the end, Nebraska Wesleyan was unable to mount a comeback, and the game ended in a 3-0 Wartburg victory.
