LINCOLN, Neb. (October 24, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer earned a 1-0 victory over Buena Vista University at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Prairie Wolves improved to 6-9-2 overall and 1-4-2 in American Rivers Conference play. Buena Vista, meanwhile, dropped to 7-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Prairie Wolves struck early in the match to seize control. In the 9th minute, Amanda Olivas connected for the game's only goal, assisted by Emma Parker and Bryce Melis. Nebraska Wesleyan continued to apply pressure throughout the first half, generating seven shots, but Buena Vista's goalkeeper kept the match within reach.
As the game progressed, the Prairie Wolves' defense stayed solid, limiting the Beavers to just five shots. Goalkeeper Catthi Pham made two crucial saves, including a vital stop in the 66th minute to preserve the shutout. Despite Buena Vista's late attempts to equalize, NWU held firm, securing their first conference victory of the season.
