LINCOLN, Neb. (October 19, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer continued their solid run with a commanding 3-0 victory over Dubuque at Abel Stadium, improving their record to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play. The Prairie Wolves' dominance was evident, securing their third straight conference win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The match started off strong for Nebraska Wesleyan, with Connor Currence scoring the first goal in the 20th minute, assisted by Samuel Schendt. The Prairie Wolves' aggressive attack didn't hold back, putting constant pressure on Dubuque's defense. Zachary Weis made some crucial saves early on to maintain the slim lead.
As the game progressed, Samuel Schendt doubled the lead with a goal in the 62nd minute. Max Matthies then capped off the scoring with a well-placed goal in the 72nd minute, leaving Dubuque with little hope of a comeback. The defense, anchored by Weis, held Dubuque at bay with a stellar performance, keeping a clean sheet despite 14 shots from the Spartans.
