LINCOLN, Neb. (October 15, 2024) – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Simpson College at Abel Stadium, improving their record to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play. The win marks the Prairie Wolves' second conference victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The only goal of the match came early in the first half when Zachary McClanathan found the back of the net in the 16th minute off an assist from Samuel Schendt. McClanathan's strike proved to be the game-winner as Nebraska Wesleyan's defense and goalkeeper Zachary Weis held strong throughout the match.
Simpson outshot the Prairie Wolves 13-6, including five shots on target, but Weis was unbeatable in goal, recording five crucial saves to keep the clean sheet. Despite constant pressure from the Storm, Nebraska Wesleyan managed to defend their slim lead until the final whistle.
