Women's Basketball Suffers Shooting Woes at Wartburg

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to 0-10 on the season with a 74-39 loss in Waverly, Iowa against the #11/12 ranked Wartburg Knights on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Prairie Wolves struggled offensively to start the game with the Prairie Wolves lone bucket of the first quarter coming on a three pointer from Tessa Skelton. Skelton was 2-2 on the day from behind the three point line.
  • After the first quarter, the Prairie Wolves were able to battle with the highly ranked Knights, only being outscored 36-52. Grace Hogeland led the way for the black and gold offensively with 10 points .
  • The Prairie Wolves' defense was able to come away with 11 steals as a team, four of which were attributed to Ellie Bream. Miranda Oesterreich, Anna Vandenack and Hogeland were able to pick up 2 steals each. Vandenack also came away with 10 rebounds for the black and gold.
  • A large difference in the game was struggles of the Prairie Wolves from the three point line. NWU shot just 4-22 from deep as compared to 9-31 for the Knights who were able to down the Prairie Wolves, 74-39.

Nebraska Wesleyan will play the second of its three game road stint at Central College on Wednesday, January 10th. Tip-off is schedule for 5:30 P.M.
