Men's Basketball Uses Final Minutes to Push Past Wartburg

HOW IT HAPPENED    

  • On Saturday afternoon, the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves secured an 80-71 victory over the Knights of Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. 
  • For the first four minutes, both teams traded scores until a layup from Conner Brown gave the Black and Gold a 12-10 lead.  
  • NWU maintained the lead throughout the first half, heading into the locker room with a 41-31 advantage.  
  • Going into the final 20 minutes, Wartburg presented a defensive challenge, and as the Knights started to make a comeback, they managed to tie the game with 3:58 remaining. 
  • With the score knotted at 67-67, Conner Brown executed a layup to move the Prairie Wolves back into the lead at 69-67. 
  • Regaining momentum, a free throw from Carter Glenn secured the advantage for the Prairie Wolves 80-69. 
  • Despite the Knights scoring a last second layup, Dale Wellman's squad outlasted Wartburg College on the road, 80-71.
  • The Prairie Wolves advance to 12-2 on the season, with Peter Lash leading the Black and Gold with 26 points and Conner Brown contributing 15 points and five steals.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan has extended their winning streak to seven games
