Men's Basketball Wins Tough Battle Against Central College

HOW IT HAPPENED     

  • On Wednesday night, the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves clinched a hard-fought 88-82 triumph against the Central College Dutch in an intense second-half battle. 
  • In the opening minutes, both teams struggled with establishing their scoring push; however, the pace changed when Jack Groeteke sank a crucial three-pointer, catapulting the Black and Gold to a 14-8 lead. 
  • Throughout the first half, NWU found their mark, sinking shots consistently and securing a halftime advantage with a 47-38 lead over the Dutch.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan concluded the opening half by shooting 53.8% from beyond the three-point line and 57.6% from the field.
  • After the break, the Prairie Wolves held onto their lead for most of the second half. The Dutch mounted a comeback, reducing the deficit to five points with just 6:15 left on the game clock.
  • The concluding moments of the game kept fans on the edge of their seats, but despite Central's recovery, the Black and Gold maintained their composure, securing crucial points to stay in control.
  • In a pivotal moment, a jump shot from Carter Glenn propelled NWU to an 82-77 lead with only 41 seconds left.
  • The game was ultimately sealed as Peter Lash sank two free throws, bringing the score to 88-78 with just 8 seconds remaining.
  • With only three seconds left in the game, Central managed a three-pointer, bringing the score to 88-82. Despite this late effort, it proved insufficient to surpass Dale Wellman's squad.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan notches another win, advancing to 13-2 on the season.
  • Peter Lash led the charge for the Black and Gold, tallying an impressive 34 points, while Carter Glenn added 20 points to the team's success.
