Men's Basketball Handed Third Loss of Season Against Loras College

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • On Saturday afternoon, Nebraska Wesleyan suffered their third loss of the season to the Duhawks of Loras College, 84-64.
  • In the opening moments of the game, the Duhawks secured a 7-point lead four minutes into the first half. Nevertheless, the Prairie Wolves didn't back down, with back-to-back three-pointers from Seth Newton and Carter Glenn leveling the score at 15-15 with 11:57 remaining.
  • Despite the Duhawks leading for the majority of the first half, the Black and Gold never trailed far behind. An "and-one" finish from Carter Glenn in the final second of the half allowed Dale Wellman's squad to go into the break only trailing 35-33.
  • Coming out of the locker room, a dunk from Jack Groeteke gave the Prairie Wolves momentum and closed the gap to 38-35. The Black and Gold were finally able to take the lead with 17:09 remaining, thanks to a three-pointer from Landon Torneten, making the score 42-41.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan continued to stay aggressive, but unfortunately, back-to-back three-pointers from the Duhawks gave Loras the 60-54 lead with 9:44 remaining.
  • Even with the Prairie Wolves' efforts, they were unable to regain momentum for the remainder of the second half, resulting in the Duhawks securing an 84-64 victory.
  • Jack Groeteke led the team with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Nebraska Wesleyan suffered just their third loss of the season, bringing their overall record to 17-3.
