Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to 0-15 on the season after suffering a 57-36 loss to the Dubuque Spartans on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nebraska Wesleyan came out firing on all cylinders, scoring the game's first eight points. The Spartans responded with a three, and the teams went back and forth for the rest of the quarter. Tessa Skelton led the Prairie Wolves with four first quarter points. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan shot 50 percent from the floor and made one three point shot.
- The two teams traded baskets early in the second quarter before the Spartans went on a 14-0 run to take a seven point lead. The Prairie Wolves responded with a quick 4-0 run to cut the lead to three. A late Dubuque free throw gave the Spartans a four point halftime lead.
- Nebraska Wesleyan opened the second half with a Tessa Skelton three point shot. The Prairie Wolves would tie the game with a free throw a few moments later. Then Dubuque broke the game open with a 17-4 run to close the third quarter. The Spartans led 43-31 after three quarters of play.
- The Prairie Wolves continued to fight hard but the Spartans continued to pull away in the fourth quarter. In the final period, Dubuque outscored Nebraska Wesleyan 14-5 and secured the victory.
