#19 Nebraska Wesleyan Takes Down Dubuque to Improve Winning Streak to 12

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • On Wednesday night, the #19 Nebraska Wesleyan University came out victorious over the Spartans of the University of Dubuque inside Snyder Arena, 59-43.
  • In the opening moments of the game, a back-and-forth scoring match unfolded with both teams exchanging the lead.
  • With 7:22 remaining in the first half, Peter Lash sank a three-pointer, giving the Black and Gold an 18-16 lead.
  • The Prairie Wolves maintained dominance on both ends of the court, only allowing the Spartans to equalize the game at 22 a piece with four minutes remaining the first half. 
  • In the final minute, a clutch three-pointer by Peter Lash and a layup from Carter Glenn propelled Nebraska Wesleyan to a 27-22 lead as they headed into the break.
  • As the second half unfolded, the Prairie Wolves came out fighting. A three-pointer from Landon Torneten provided NWU with momentum, securing a 32-25 lead.
  • With 13:27 remaining, a thunderous dunk from Elijah Thatch electrified Snyder Arena, keeping fans on their feet. This energy continued as Jack Groeteke followed with another forceful dunk, further fueling the power surge for the Prairie Wolves, 41-27. 
  • Despite the Spartans scoring points down the stretch, NWU never allowed Dubuque to get within ten during the final minutes, giving the Black and Gold a 59-43 victory.
  • For the first time since the 2019-20 season, the Prairie Wolves defeated the University of Dubuque, ending the Spartans six-game winning streak.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan held Dubuque to their lowest point total of the 2023–24 season.
  • Dale Wellman's squad outscored the Spartans 15-12 in points off turnovers and dominated the paint, outscoring the Spartans 28-22.
  • NWU's defense played a complete 40 minutes forcing 14 turnovers and holding the University of Dubuque to a respectful 33% from the floor.
