Track and Field Begins Indoor Season at the Graduate Classic

HOW IT HAPPENED

For the first time under Derrick Mckenzie, the Nebraska Wesleyan track and field began their 2024 indoor season in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Graduate Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska.
Gabby Thomas set the tone for the Prairie Wolves as she put down an all-time best in the 1000m. The senior finished third with a time of 3:06.82. Five seconds behind Thomas came Delaney Vacek, who placed fourth.
Freshmen distance runners, Conner Ross and Ethan Olson crossed the finish line at three and four in the 5000m run.
After qualifying for the 60m hurdles finale, Noah Smith recorded the performance of the day with fourth place personal-best finish. Smith nearly cut of 20 tenths of a second from his prior best and soared over the hurdles in 8.14.
Keeley Hourigan took home fifth place in the 60m hurdles. She came in at 9.54 seconds.
Sophomore Ghaith Taha clocked in at 22.61 seconds and finished fourth in the men's 200m.
Only one relay group began their season for Nebraska Wesleyan in Saturday's events. The combination of Mathew Siegel, Aydon McDonald, McClain Meyer and Austin Nauert in the 4x400 ran a 3:26.49, which was good enough for a fourth place finish.
