Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten in Their First Seven Games for the First Time Since 2001

LINCOLN, Neb. (September 17, 2023) - On Sunday afternoon, Nebraska Wesleyan secured their sixth victory of the season with a 4-0 triumph over Cornell College. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED  

  • Alex Kohler provided an early lead for Nebraska Wesleyan by locating the high right corner of the net at the 2:37 mark. 
  • As the first half continued, Eli Rhodes pinpointed the lower right corner of the goal, expanding NWU's advantage to 2-0. 
  • As the second half began, a foul in the box resulted in a penalty kick taken by Bryan Andrade. The sophomore put it through the pipes and propelled Nebraska Wesleyan to a 3-0 lead. 
  • The Prairie Wolves offense continued to dominate with Jacob Garcia notching his first goal of the season at the 79:48 mark. 
  • Zachary Weis made four saves, contributing to Nebraska Wesleyan's 4-0 victory over the Rams. 
  •  This is the first time the Prairie Wolves have been unbeaten in their first seven games since 2001.

  • "That 2001 team was incredible so we are still chasing greatness with those guys but now we are on to Luther, and it will be a massive test." 

ZACH WEIS COMMENTS 

  • "Super proud of the team today. One of our goals was to go above .500 in non-conference competition and we've done that."
