Softball Splits Regular Season Finale

Game 1
  • The Prairie Wolves were beat 3-2 by the Loras Duhawks in the first game of a double header that concluded the regular season. 
  • Senior Emma Alfieri gave the Prairie Wolves the lead with a two run homerun to center field, bringing Paige Davison. Alfieri tied the team high in home runs this season with this being her fourth.
  • After both squads were held scoreless in the fourth inning, the Duhawks were able to get the tying and go ahead runs across the plate in the top of the fifth. Two hits and a Prairie Wolf error led to two runs for Loras.
  • The Prairie Wolves continued to struggle, as they were held hitless after the Alfieri homerun in the third inning. 
  • Warnecke went seven innings, surrendering three runs while striking out six, but was ultimately handed the loss. 
Game 2
  • NWU was lead to a 4-0 victory by a strong performance in the center circle by Elise Warnecke. Warnecke shut down the Duhawk offense, allowing just two hits throughout the contest. 
  • The Prairie Wolves continued to struggle offensively, before exploding for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. 
  • The Prairie Wolves were able to string together four singles, the first of which by Sami MacDonald. Emily Swoboda provided a pinch-hit single scoring Becca Chloupek, who was in to run for MacDonald.
  • Addie Duranski would enter to run for Swoboda. Duranski would come across to score on an Amber Kosmicki single to right field.
  • The final run of the day would be driven in by Emma Alfieri as Kosmicki scored on a line drive single to left field.
