Softball Strikes Out On Day Two In Florida

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lebanon Valley College
  • Elise Warneke turned in another stellar performance in the center circle. Warneke surrendered just one run in her six innings of work. The Prairie Wolve pitcher gave up just three hits in the game against the Dutchmen.
  • The black and gold struggled to get anything going at the plate. The Prairie Wolves were only able to tally six hits on the day. Only four NWU batters cracked the hit column.
  • NWU was unable to capitalize on their opportunities with runners on base. The Prairie Wolves stranded seven runners on base.
  • Emily Swoboda continued kept her bat rolling throughout game three of the spring trip. Swoboda went 2-3 from the plate against the Dutchmen.
  • NWU was unable to cross the plate and lost to Lebanon Valley College in a defensive battle, 1-0.
Penn St.- Behrend
  • The Prairie Wolves trailed their entire second game of the day against the Lions. Penn St.-Behrend pushed two runs across in the first and sixth which was enough to outlast the NWU offensive attack.
  • A two run homerun pushed the NWU deficit up to four runs. The Prairie Wolves found some life in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jenna Kimberling and Bre Schneidewind drove in a pair of runners to bring the score to 4-2 entering the final frame.
  • Hanna Roth earned an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning but the Prairie wolves would ultimately fall one run short losing, 4-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE HEAD COACH MARY YORI'S COMMENTS
  • "We got some great pitching efforts by Elise and Rylee and played good defense. We were unable to do much offensively today and couldn't catch any breaks with some solid hits not falling. Both our losses today were against strong teams and we will be back in action again tomorrow against more quality teams."
UP NEXT
The black and gold will be back in action on Tuesday with games scheduled for 9:00 A.M. and 11:30 A.M. The Prairie Wolves will face Trine University and University of Northwestern (MN).
