Softball Starts Spring Trip Strong

HOW IT HAPPENED
Marietta College
  • NWU had it rolling on offense beating Marietta College, 9-1 in Winter Haven, Florida.
  • Jenna Kimberling drove in Emma Alfieri and Val Gerlach on and RBI double in the first inning as the Prairie Wolves took a 3-0 lead after the first full inning.
  • The Prairie Wolves would score six runs in second inning, taking a sizable lead over the Pioneers, 9-0.
  • This surplus of offense was more than enough for the pitching duo of Elise Warneke and Kenna Ford. Warneke earned her third win in the center circle completing three innings and surrendering only two hits and no runs.
  • The NWU squad tallied 11 total hits in their five inning win over the Pioneers. Six different Prairie Wolves cracked the hit column.
Heidelburg Univerity
  • Game 2 on the day for the black and gold was headlined by a dominant performance from Warneke and Isabella Harris. Warneke went 4 2/3 innings allowing just 1 hit in the 15 batters she faced. The center circle dominance was continued as Harris went 2 1/3 innings surrendering only one hit as the Prairie Wolves kept the Student Princes off the scoreboard.
  • The Pairie Wolves progressively seperated themselves from their competition scoring in 5 different innings.
  • Kimberling continued her hot streak at the plate adding two more hits and another rbi to her tally.
  • Despite leaving 11 runners on base the Prairie Wolves were dominant winning 10-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE HEAD COACH MARY YORI'S COMMENTS
  • "It was nice to get two decisive wins for our first day outside on the field. Elise pitched well and again, we had solid production throughout our offensive lineup."
