Softball Ends Run in Florida with Wins against Ramapo and Edgewood College

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ramapo
  • An offensive showcase was put on by both teams in the first two innings with a total of eight runs being scored.
  • NWU put up five runs in the second inning to secure a lead for the rest of the game. Both Hanna Roth and Paige Davison contributed heavily, posting doubles with two RBIs a piece.
  • The Prairie Wolves added two more runs in the third inning. Amber Kosmicki had an RBI on a fielder's choice to the shortstop, then later scored the last run for the P-Wolves.
  • Scoring came to a halt during innings four through six as no runs were scored by either team, and a total of eight hits were made compared to thirteen in the first three innings.
  • Isabella Harris was the winning pitcher for the black and gold. She lasted 3.1 innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out two. Elise Warneke came in and threw 3.2 innings in relief.  
Edgewood College
  • Nebraska Wesleyan University put up seven runs in the third inning, cementing the P-Wolves the win against Edgewood College on Saturday
  • The Prairie Wolves were led by Emma Alfieri, Emily Swoboda, and Hanna Roth, who totaled nine RBIs on five hits. 
  • Emma Alfieri's first homerun of the year came in dramatic fashion. With the bases loaded, the senior put a no-doubter over the center field wall, adding four more runs to the Prairie Wolves' total.
  • Rylee Pangborn came out as the winning pitcher. The hurler lasted 2.1 innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out two. Elise Warneke threw 2.2 innings in relief out of the bullpen.
  • The NWU softball team's defense persisted in innings four and five, allowing no hits and having no errors to ensure an early ending .

  • "We had a very successful week in Florida,  going 8-4 and learning a lot about ourselves as a team."
  • "We hit very well overall and had really good pitching along with solid defense."

The Prairie Wolves host their first home games of the season on Saturday, March 18 with a doubleheader against Midland University. First pitches are set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
