Men's Basketball Catches Fire in Road Victory

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan used a three point barrage, strong bench play, and tough defense to score a key conference victory over Central College Wednesday night.
  • The Prairie Wolves shot lights out in the first half en route to a 44-21 half time lead. The Prairie Wolves made eight three pointers and shot 51.52 percent from the floor. This offensive explosion was led by Walker AndrewPeter Lash and Carter Glenn. The trio accounted for 13, 11, and 10 points respectively.
  • On the other end of the floor the defense played lights out. The Prairie Wolves held Central to just 21 points on 19 percent shooting. The defense also held Central star Joshua Van Gorp to just two points in the half.
  • Central made adjustments at halftime and found some offensive success in the second half. The Dutch started the half on an 11-3 run but the Prairie Wolves responded with a 5-0 run of their own. This remained the case throughout the rest of the game, as each time Central cut into the lead, Nebraska Wesleyan would answer with a basket.
  • Another key aspect to the Prairie Wolves victory came from the bench. Thomas Hunt had nine points and four rebounds while Jack Groeteke had eight points and four rebounds. The bench played a major role in keeping the Dutch at arms length while the starters rested.
