HOW IT HAPPENED   

• Jack Groeteke had 26 points and eight rebounds, Peter Lash scored 20 points and the Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team had a 12-point lead erased before rallying to defeat Chapman 72-67 on Wednesday in the UC Santa Cruz Classic.
• Groeteke made a layup off an assist from Carter Glenn to give NWU a 66-63 lead, and after Chapman cut it to a two-point game with a free throw, Peter Lash and Seth Newton responded with a pair of free throws to give NWU a six-point advantage. The Panthers (6-4) drew within three points, 70-67, with five seconds left before Jack Groeteke sealed the game with a putback after Carter Glenn's failed free throws. 
• Carter Glenn scored 16 points, while Elijah Thatch added five off the bench for the Prairie Wolves. 
• The P-Wolves had their biggest lead of the game at 60-48 after a 12-7 run that was capped by a Carter Glenn jumper.
• It was the first time NWU and Chapman have met since 2007, with the Prairie Wolves winning the previous contest.
• Peter Lash was named the Classic's Most Outstanding Player, while Jack Groeteke was named All-tournament team.
