HOW IT HAPPENED

• Dubuque left Snyder Arena with an 81-43 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.
• The Spartans came out hot in the first quarter and shot 53 percent from the floor. Their shooting was coupled with a stout defense that held the Prairie Wolves to just 25 percent shooting. At the end of the first quarter Dubuque held an 18-5 lead.
• Dubuque continued to make shots and play excellent defense in the second quarter. The Spartans drained four three pointers in the period and brought a 41-12 lead into halftime.
• Nebraska Wesleyan found their offense in the third quarter but continued to struggle defending Dubuque's explosive offense. The Spartans shot 67 percent from the field in the quarter and outscored the Prairie Wolves by three.
• Both teams continued to perform well on offense in the fourth quarter but Nebraska Wesleyan was unable to cut into the deficit.
