HOW IT HAPPENED

University of Wisconsin-River Falls

  • In Set 1, it was the Falcons who escaped the back-and-forth battle out on top, 22-25. The Prairie Wolves finished with 12 kills to UW-River Falls' 16.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan came out swinging in Set 2, 28-26. The Prairie Wolves put together 15 kills on 53 attempts and finished with a .226 hitting percentage. That performance was enough to tie things up, 1-1.
  • Errors got the best of the black and gold in Set 3. Cain's team committed seven errors and scored just eight kills. The Falcons gave their best performance of the afternoon in the third set. They finished with a .310 hitting percentage and 13 kills, 13-25.
  • With their backs against the wall heading into Set 4, Nebraska Wesleyan responded and topped UW-River Falls, 25-22. Addie Thomas, Mackenzie Scurto, and Nyah Chambers combined for 10.5 points.
  • It all came down to the fifth set. The Prairie Wolves found themselves down early, 1-4, and couldn't seem to recover before the Falcons reached 15, 8-15.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan fell to UW-River Falls in five sets.

University of Wisconsin-Platteville

  • Hopping right back into action, Cain's squad met UW-Platteville. In what looked to be a set that was never going to end, the Pioneers finally closed things out with a kill from Emma Carlson, 29-31.
  • The Prairie Wolves followed up their first set performance with five kills and a -.030 hitting percentage in Set 2. Quickly, Nebraska Wesleyan found themselves down, 0-2.
  • The offensive struggles for the Prairie Wolves and tough defense for the Pioneers continued as they headed into Set 3. The black and gold tied things up at 24 a piece, but UW-Platteville scored two unanswered points to close out the sweep, 24-26.
