Simpson Cools Down Baseball’s Offense

Indianola, Iowa (April 6, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team fell on the road, 9-1, to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

NWU entered the game looking to win its second straight conference series after the two teams split last week's doubleheader in Lincoln. The Storm plated two early runs in the first inning before the Prairie Wolves were able to counter with a run in the top of the fifth inning.

Reigning A-R-C position player of the week, Derek Kolbush, put Nebraska Wesleyan on the board with a double to left-centerfield field to drive in Jason English. However, the two-out double was not enough to generate a comeback as Simpson retired the next batter.

After the fifth inning, SC added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning then tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Over the last four games, NWU scored 35 runs and tallied 56 hits but this evening Simpson held them to just one run and two hits. One of the Prairie Wolves' two hits was a double, the fifth straight game the team has had at least one double.

Additionally, Kaleb Knox extended his hitting streak to nine consecutive games with a base hit. Kolbush also reached base safely for the 14th straight game.
