Late Home Run Not Enough To Complete Comeback


DUBUQUE, Iowa (April 24, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team fell, 4-3, to the University of Dubuque in the series finale. UD's win spoiled NWU's attempt to sweep the Spartans in the series.

A three-run first inning by Dubuque made the Prairie Wolves play from behind the entire game. Paul Georget put NWU on the board with a run in the second inning. Georget ripped a two-out RBI double to left field for the first run. 

The Spartans added a run in the sixth inning to make it a 4-1 advantage. In the ninth inning, the Prairie Wolves would not go away without a fight. 

Down to their final out, Darrien Costello-Justus came to the plate with Noah Unger on second base. Costello-Justus cranked a home run to cut the deficit down to one run. For Costello-Justus, it was his first home run of the season and second as a Prairie Wolf. 

However, Dubuque escaped the threat with a strikeout in the next at-bat and avoided being swept by NWU.
