Central Escapes NWU


LINCOLN, Neb. (April 2, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team narrowly fell to Central College, 5-4, at the Lincoln Sports Foundation Sports Complex in Lincoln.

The Prairie Wolves earned a doubles point with a convincing win at No. 1 Doubles. Ryan Carey and Will Olson easily took the point with an 8-2 victory. Central squeaked out a point at No. 2 Doubles as Jacob Balfany and Max Rademacher fell by just two points.

In singles play, NWU won matches at the top two spots. Ryan Carey took the point at No. 1 Singles in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0. At No. 2 Singles, Will Olson also won a hard fought match in three sets, 0-6, 7-5, 6-1. Hayden Retzlaff claimed the team's fourth point in straight sets at No. 6 Singles, 7-6 (7-5), 6-1. 

Jacob Balfany and Daniel Bernhardson both dropped tightly contested matches in three sets at No. 3 Singles and No. 5 Singles.
