Prairie Wolves Score Three In The Ninth, Knock Off #18 Loras


DUBUQUE, Iowa. (April 10, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team knocked off No. 18 Loras College, 9-7, on the road in Dubuque, Iowa. The win by NWU capped a three-game series with the Duahwks which saw all three games decided by two runs or less. 

The Prairie Wolves took an early 1-0 lead with a solo home run from Derek Kolbush in the first inning. NWU then plated two more runs in the third inning off of a two-run double from Riley Ward for a 3-1 lead. LC took a 4-3 in the fourth inning but Zach Osbahr knocked his first home run of the season in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4.

After Loras combined for five runs in the fourth and fifth innings, Nebraska Wesleyan used back-to-back RBI singles from Noah Unger and Paul Georget to again tie the game. The Duhawks added a run in the eighth inning but the Prairie Wolves offense went to work in the ninth inning. 

In the final frame, Christian Harris scored the go-ahead run and put the game out of reach with a swing of the bat. Harris registered a three-run home run in the inning, his first home run of the season. Noah Wing then struck out two of the three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the save. 

NWU hit three home runs in the win. It is the third time this season that the Prairie Wolves hit three home runs in a single game.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to Lincoln for a midweek game against Buena Vista on Tuesday, April 12 at NWU Field. The first pitch between the Prairie Wolves and Beavers is set for 3 p.m.
