NWU Lights Up Minnesota Morris, Northland College


Clermont, Fla. (March 11, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team slugged its way to two run-rule victories in Clermont, Florida by outsourcing its opponents 26-4. NWU beat Northland College, 15-4, then beat Minnesota Morris, 11-0, to cap off the day.

Game One Recap
Nebraska Wesleyan wasted little time in avenging one of its two losses on the season. The Prairie Wolves scored 11 runs in the first two innings, including a 10 run second inning as it cruised past Northland College. 

Val Gerlach led the offense with four RBIs and Addie Duranski finished with three RBIs in the victory. Emma Alfieri accounted for four of the team's 15 runs. Eight different batters for NWU recorded two hits in the win. 

Kailey Meyer picked up the win in the circle, Meyer's sixth win of the season. Meyer tossed three innings of work with three strikeouts and just one earned run.

Game Two Recap
The offense for Nebraska Wesleyan didn't cool off after game one. NWU put up seven runs in the first inning, highlighted by four doubles, two from the bat of Hanna Roth. The Prairie Wolves then struck again in the third inning with four more runs. 

Roth paced the offense going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Emma Alfieri and Bre Schneidewind both finished 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBIs and scored one run. Kenna Ford also recorded two hits in the victory. 

In the circle, Ford and Jackie Morrissey combined for seven strikeouts and limited the Cougars to just two hits in their combined shutout.
