Nittany Lions Sneak Past Prairie Wolves


AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 11, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team fell to Penn State Abington, 3-2, in Auburndale, Florida.

A defensive game was decided in the final at-bat. Abington broke a scoreless game with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. But NWU responded in the next inning with a solo home run from Justin English. 

The Prairie Wolves then took the lead in the top of the ninth inning off of the bat of Derek Kolbush. Kolbush knocked a double to score Paul Georget and give NWU a 2-1 lead. 

In the bottom of the ninth, the Nittany Lions were able to get two runners aboard on a pair of walks. PSUA then hit a double to score both runners and record the walk-off win. 

Dylan Cox led Nebraska Wesleyan from the pitching mound. Cox tossed 5 ⅔ innings and did not surrender a run with only giving up two hits. Cox also recorded six strikeouts in the outing.

Nebraska Wesleyan plays the final game of its Florida Spring Break trip against the College of New Jersey on Saturday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. in Auburndale, Florida at Lake Myrtle Park.
