DUBUQUE, Iowa (February 25, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team wrapped up day one of the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Wrestling Championships in Dubuque, Iowa. 

NWU's Collin Quandt and Zeth Gerkensmeyer both earned a pair of wins on day one and advanced to tomorrow's action on day two. By advancing to tomorrow, both wrestlers have a chance to finish third in the regional and advance to the NCAA Division III Championships. 

Quandt recorded his first victory of the day at 156 lbs by pin at the 5:46 mark in the match. After falling in the quarterfinals, Quandt picked up another victory by pin in round two of the consolation bracket. The second pin occurred just 2:14 into the match. Gerksenmeyer won his first match of the day with an easy 9-2 decision at 165 lbs. In the next round, Gerkensmeyer was defeated but bounced back in round two of the consolation bracket. In his second win, Gerkensmeyer won with a 6-2 decision.

Jared Gallub also recorded a win for the Prairie Wolves. Gallub fell in round one but responded with a hard-fought 7-5 decision in the consolation bracket. However, Gallub was unable to advance after a defeat in round two of the consolation bracket.

Action on day two of the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional Wrestling Championships starts at 11 a.m. in Dubuque. Below are the complete results for each NWU wrestler.
