Football Suffers a Loss to Central College on Wesleyan Weekend

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a quiet start to the game, Jacob Gramman got Prairie Wolf fans on their feet with an interception at the 43-second mark of the second quarter, 0-17.
  • NWU's defense continues to show improvements as they jump into A-R-C play. They gave up just 17 points to Central in the first half, 0-17. 
  • The Dutch did the majority of their work coming out of the break. They found the endzone five times, in which all of them came in the air, 0-51.
  • With the game out of reach, Coach Keller went to his second-team offense and defense in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback, Evan Johnson, led the Prairie Wolves 61-yards on 15 plays before coming up short on fourth down with an incomplete pass. Johnson completed five passes on his first fourth-quarter drive and converted a fourth and four pass on Central's 42-yard line. 
  • The fourth-quarter defense for NWU gave up just one touchdown and Aydon Nelson and Lucas Marquette combined for 11 total tackles.
  • Saturday's game came to a close with a final score of 0-58. Nebraska Wesleyan was shut out for the first time since 2014.

  • "Our defense preformed well in the first-half and that might be the highlight of the day."
  • "Central lost a lot of great players from last year, but they are well coached. They took us out of our game today.
  • "We have time off now to reset, regroup and get ready for Wartburg in two weeks."

UP NEXT

The Prairie Wolves (1-4, 0-3) get a week off before they head to Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, October 15, to take on Wartburg College. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
