Knights Get Past Prairie Wolves


WAVERLY, Iowa (January 8, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team fell on the road to Wartburg, 81-65, in Waverly, Iowa. 

NWU's chance for its third consecutive win and fourth win in the last five games was ended by the Knights. The two teams traded baskets to open the game but WC used a string of points for an early advantage and never looked back. 

The Prairie Wolves were held in check on the offensive end of the floor. NWU shot just 39.3 percent from the field, its second-lowest total over the last seven games. Nebraska Wesleyan was just 34.5 percent from the floor in the first half and was unable to connect on a three-pointer. They bounced back in the second half, going 43.8 percent from the field and hitting six three-pointers.

On the other side of the court, Wartburg shot 41.9 percent from the field and 31 percent from the three-point arc. The Knights also went 20-for-27 at the free-throw line. 

Landon Torneten paced the Prairie Wolves with 12 points. Torneten has scored in double figures eight times over the last nine games. Carter Glenn added 10 points for NWU, it is the third straight game and 11th time this season Glenn has netted a double-digit point total. Glenn was also credited with four assists in the game.

NWU returns to Snyder Arena on Wednesday, January 12 for a 7:30 p.m. game against Simpson College.
