Men’s Basketball Falls To Coe

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 18, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team fell on the road to Coe College, 67-53, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Playing its first game in 10 days, NWU took an early lead to start the game. The Prairie Wolves scored the game's first basket before the teams locked into a back-and-forth tilt with neither leading by more than one possession over the opening eight minutes of action. A Jack Groteke three-pointer at the 10:31 mark gave Nebraska Wesleyan a 15-11 lead. However, Groteke's three would be their largest lead of the evening.

After Coe took a 14 point lead, Terrence Gilder knocked down with a three-pointer right before halftime. Gilder's three sparked a 13-4 run that the Prairie Wolves were able to maintain through halftime and into the second half. Tyler Unger capped the run with another three-pointer to cut down the Kohawk lead, 38-33, with just under 17 minutes left. But Coe again would answer with a run and was able to pull away.

Peter Lash scored 12 points and grabbed a game-best nine rebounds, barely missing a double-double. Landon Torneten dropped 10 points to go with six rebounds. Gilder, Unger, and Connor Riekenberg each were credited with two assists.
