Wrestling Concludes Day One Of Pete Willson Invite


WHEATON, Ill. (January 28, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team concluded its first day of the Pete Willson Invitational in Wheaton, Illinois. 

NWU's Collin Quandt led the way with three wins on the day and advanced to tomorrow's wrestleback round. Quandt will wrestle for a chance to place as high as third place tomorrow, action begins at 11 a.m. 

Quandt started the day with a pin in just 1:14 against his opponent from Wheaton University. In the next round, Quandt added another win with a 9-7 decision over an opponent from Milliken University. After dropping a match in the quarterfinals, Quandt bounced back to pin the next opponent from Ohio Nothern. Quandt recorded his second pin of the event at the 3:37 mark of the match. 

The Prairie Wolves also had wins on day one from Christian Deherrera, Keegan Casey, and Brody Dickinson. Deherrera recorded his win in the first consolation round with a pin in four minutes. Casey earned a win in the second consolation round with a narrow 2-1 decision. Dickinson was victorious in the first consolation round with a 10-2 major decision.
