Prairie Wolves Complete Comeback, Sink Norse In Overtime

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 22, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team defeated Luther College, 73-71 in overtime, at Snyder Arena in Lincoln. NWU erased a 12 point second half deficit to snap its two game losing skid with the win.

Peter Lash netted the biggest shot of the game with just 20 seconds left in regulation. Lash drove through the traffic and hit a running floating jump shot inside the paint to tie the game at 66. The Norse's attempted game-winner was off the mark to push the game into overtime.

In overtime, NWU struck first on a jumper from Jack Groteke but Luther answered with a three-pointer. Josh Rodgers put the Prairie Wolves ahead for good with a free-throw at the 1:21 mark. After the teams traded possessions, Groteke's defense forced Luther to take a deep three-pointer at the buzzer that rimmed in and out.

Nebraska Wesleyan outscored Luther, 26-14, over the final 10:41 of the game to force overtime. The second half run included a 10-2 stretch from NWU over the last three minutes of action.

The Prairie Wolves outscored the Norse 49-23 on bench points over the entire game. Nebraska Wesleyan's strong play off the bench was led by Josh Rogers, Jack Groteke, and Elijah Thatch. Rogers scored a career-high 25 points, including 15 points in the second half and overtime. Groteke netted a career-high 13 points and Thatch grabbed a season-best 10 rebounds.
