Second Half Run Not Enough For NWU

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (January 19, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell on the road to Coe College, 76-60, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Facing a 17 point halftime deficit, the Prairie Wolves rallied for 25 points in the third quarter. NWU shot 60 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three-point arc in the quarter to close the gap.

Nebraska Wesleyan used the momentum in the third quarter to start a 10-3 run and cut the Kohawk lead down to just eight points in the fourth quarter. Anna Vandenack scored a put back layup to end the third quarter, which was the start of the NWU run. The Prairie Wolves held Coe without a field goal for nearly three and half minutes during the stretch but Coe was able to get their three points at the free-throw line.

However, NWU was unable to maintain the momentum and the Kohawks pulled away over the final four and half minutes.

Delaney Roberts and Anna Vandenack combined for 38 points for Nebraska Wesleyan. Roberts led the way with 22 points, six assists, and five steals. Roberts went 14-for-16 at the free line, the 14 made free-throws were the most by a Prairie Wolf this season. Vandenack netted 16 points with seven rebounds. Vandenack went 7-for-11 from the field.
